Joel Madden is an American musician who is best known as the lead vocalist of Good Charlotte. GC have sold over 10 million records to date, penned countless mainstream radio hits such as “The Anthem,” “Lifestyles Of The Rich & Famous” and “Hold On” and shared the stage with everyone from Justin Timberlake to Third Eye Blind. Benji and twin brother Joel have also toured as The Madden Brothers and released their debut album “Greetings from California” in September 2014, debuting at #1 on the Australian album charts. In early 2016 Joel and Benji relaunched their band Good Charlotte and have toured every year since. In 2016, the brothers founded artist management company MDDN to manage artists, songwriters & producers and currently rep over 20 bands/artists including massive UK pop star Jessie J. They founded live streaming platform Veeps in 2017, and sold it to Live Nation in January 2021.
In 2012 Joel served as a judge on the #1 show in Australia, THE VOICE. The show reached millions of viewers with its debut, trumping ratings belonging to the previous debuts of both The X-FACTOR and AMERICAN IDOL, holding steady at about 2.5 million viewers per episode. Joel was the only judge that appeared on all four seasons.
Joel co-founded the Richie Madden Children’s Foundation with his wife. He has also served as a UN ambassador, has worked with Feeding America, and contributed to “We Are the World 25 for Haiti,” a remake of the song “We Are the World” by USA for Africa.
Joel married fashion entrepreneur and television personality Nicole Richie in late 2010. They share two beautiful children, daughter Harlow and son Sparrow.
