Lacretta is currently shooting NBC’s half-hour comedy NIGHT COURT, a follow-up to the classic legal comedy series that’s headlined and executive produced by Melissa Rauch, with the original series’ John Larroquette reprising his Emmy-winning role. Lacretta will play ‘Donna “Gurgs” Gurganous’, the court’s bailiff, who takes her job very seriously. Big-hearted, intense and not big on boundaries, Gurgs is easily riled up and fiercely protective of her night court colleagues.
Lacretta played ‘Bouncy’, a series regular on the ABC pilot SALVAGE. She has guest starred on NBC’s LAW & ORDER (2012), NBC’s 30 ROCK (2013), Comedy Central’s BROAD CITY (2017), FOX’s GOTHAM (2018), and skit comedy show #HASHTAGTHESHOW (2020).
Lacretta lit up the silver screen as ‘Suzi Teplitsky’ in the romantic comedy SECOND ACT, directed by Peter Segal.
In 2011, she appeared in HAIRSPRAY as ‘Motormouth Maybelle’ at Broadway Rose in Portland. She originated the role of ‘Levora Verona’ in the off-Broadway run of DISASTER! at The Triad in New York in 2012, and made her Broadway debut with it in 2016 at the Nederlander in New York. She then played the role of ‘Gary Coleman in AVENUE Q at the Barter Theatre in Virginia, followed by the role of ‘Paulette’ LEGALLY BLONDE at the Barter Theatre. Most recently, she was in the 1st national tour of THE BOOK OF MORMON (Latter Day Company).
She loves gaming and is very active on Twitch. In January 2022, she helped announce the first Streamers for Education Scholarship for Black Women going into the fields of STEM/Digital Media/Film. She is an avid chef often shares recipes from “’Cretta’s Kitchen” on her Instagram.
