Apple TV's Shrinking, comedy film Goodrich, on Broadway in Once Upon a Mattress, best known for ABC's Ugly Betty
Michael Urie can currently be seen in the hit Apple TV series SHRINKING opposite Harison Ford and Jason Segel. On the features side, Michael will next be seen in Bradley Cooper’s MAESTRO for Netflix. He has also just finished shooting a great supporting role opposite Michael Keaton in the dramedy GOODRICH for Paramount. Last winter, Michael was the lead of SINGLE ALL THE WAY, a romantically themed holiday comedy for Netflix where it remained the #1 film of their holiday season.
He is of course also known for his role as “Marc St. James” on ABC’s UGLY BETTY and has appeared in a multitude of other roles on series such as MODERN FAMILY, THE GOOD WIFE, YOUNGER, and WORKAHOLICS, among many others
On the stage, Michael recently filmed THE JERSEY BOYS LIVE! opposite Nick Jonas. Michael also starred on Broadway in the Tony-nominated revival of Harvey Fierstein’s TORCH SONG. He originated the role of Alex More in Jonathan Tolins’ BUYER & CELLAR, for which he received the Drama Desk Award, Clarence Derwent Award, the Lucille Lortel Award, LA Drama Critics Award, and nominations for the Drama League and Outer Critics Circle Awards. At the pandemic's beginning, he live-streamed it from his living room, raising over $200,000 for Broadway Cares. He was recently seen on Broadway in Douglas Lyons’ CHICKEN AND BISCUITS and in 2012 again on Broadway in HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS, playing “Bud Frump” alongside Nick Jonas.
Michael is the co-founder and festival producer of the annual Pride Plays in New York and has hosted four seasons of Logo’s COCKTAILS AND CLASSICS.
Michael trained at the esteemed Juilliard School in New York.
