Nia Long is an Award-winning actor known for her iconic work and legendary roles across both film and television.

Long recently wrapped production on MICHAEL, the highly anticipated biopic of late pop star Michael Jackson. Long will portray Katherine Jackson, family matriarch to the Jackson musical family. Directed by Antoine Fuqua and written by John Logan, the film stars Oscar nominee Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson and Jaafar Jackson, who is Michael Jackson’s nephew, as the music icon. BOHEMIAN RHAPSODY producer Graham King is producing MICHAEL, which is due out October 3, 2025 from Lionsgate.

Long most recently starred opposite Eddie Murphy, Jonah Hill and Julia Louis-Dreyfus in the worldwide hit Netflix comedy YOU PEOPLE from Kenya Barris, debuting at #1 on Netflix. Long also recently reprised her role for the Peacock limited series THE BEST MAN: THE FINAL CHAPTERS, which premiered to record ratings, reuniting the original cast once again to send this decades-long franchise off in style and earned her a 2023 NAACP Award. She also headlined MISSING, Sony’s follow-up to the box office hit thriller SEARCHING from Aneesh Chaganty opposite Storm Reid.

Long previously produced and starred in the Netflix thriller FATAL AFFAIR, debuting at #1 on the platform. She also starred with Samuel L. Jackson and Anthony Mackie in the Apple TV+ feature film THE BANKER.

A four-time NAACP Award winner, her role in BOYZ IN THE HOOD in the 90’s put her on the map, followed by iconic parts in FRIDAY, THE FRESH PRINCE OF BEL-AIR, THIRD WATCH, Tyler Perry’s THE SINGLE MOMS CLUB, MADE IN AMERICA, NCIS: LOS ANGELES, EMPIRE, #BLACKAF and DEAR WHITE PEOPLE, among others.

Long was selected to receive a Star in 2025 on the Hollywood Walk of Fame for her work across Film. Her upcoming memoir will be published in 2025 by Gallery Books and in 2024, she was a Grammy-nominee, appearing on Janelle Monáe’s The Age of Pleasure, nominated for “Album of The Year.”

Long is a longtime supporter of the United Nations Foundation and in in 2023 was honored by Reel Works with the “ChangeMaker” Award.
